Jordi Carot

Biography

Jordi Carot is a photographer, graphic artist, and documentary cinema director. While he presumes to have done almost everything in the field of graphic design, there are still areas in which his imagination can flourish. He is passionate about Asia, its culture and history. He is a keen traveller and has produced various photographic and audiovisual projects, as well as exhibitions and talks, on the subject of photography and Tibet.

He was born in Barcelona and reborn in Varanasi (India) 33 years later. He was 5 years of age when he produced his first magazine from press cuttings clipped from sports newspapers, doubtless the beginning of his interest and later career in graphic design and audiovisual production, which stretched from the days of 20 minutos to being the art director of GAZ (General Art Zine), the first multimedia magazine in Spain. As a graphic artist and art director he has worked for numerous agencies and clients such as Editorial Planeta, Nina Ricci, Gaz Magazine, H Magazine, Go Magazine, Epson and Endesa. He was the cofounder of two studios, Imagics and dLightbox, the latter being devoted to audiovisual art direction.

He was the co-director of the documentary film Earth Sutra (Antropodocs 2016), which brought him into contact with Tibetan exiles living in India and Nepal including musicians, poets, activists and prisoners, as well as bringing him close to great masters such as the Dalai Lama and Rinku Tulku Rimpoche. The project took eight years and was premiered at the Cineteca in Madrid with the attendance and sponsorship of Thubten Wangchen (President of the Tibet House Foundation) and the US actor, Richard Gere.

At the present time he combines his activities with projects such as Pandora XXI (a trilogy of short films about the concept of beauty), Idol (a series about a youth phenomenon in Japan), and La Ciutat Inventada a documentary about the late Catalan architect Enric Miralles and the Miralles Tagliabue EMBT studio, managed by Bendetta Tagliabue.

Further than that, silence is best.
