About the institution
Since 1997 the Garraf District Archive has also included the Municipal Archive of Vilanova i la Geltrú, thanks to an agreement between Vilanova i la Geltrú Town Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya and Garraf District Council. Its main aim is to conserve, classify, describe and disseminate the documentation belonging to the district's various private and public institutions.
Notable amongst Vilanova i la Geltrú Town Council's collection are the records of the town's Court of First Instance, the historical archives of the town's renowned families, the local press, photographic collections and 20th-century posters.
The Archive is located in Geltrú Castle and may be consulted by researchers and students as well as the general public.
