Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya

About the institution

The Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia is one of the three national museums recognised by the Parliament of Catalonia. Its mission is to provide a permanent exhibition of the genesis and evolution of scientific and technological advances in Catalonia together with their industrial applications and, especially, their importance and influence on society.

The mNACTEC's photographic archive contains more than 100,000 photographs and includes a wide-ranging collection about industrial, scientific and technological heritage, amongst which there are a number of collections devoted to the history and evolution of photography itself. Part of the photographic collection can be consulted via the Museum's online photographic archive, which is located in the 'Historical Archive' section of the Museum's website.

The mNACTEC is based in Terrassa in one of the most iconic buildings of Catalan Modernisme, the Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover, a former textile mill designed by the architect Lluís Muncunill, and built between 1907 and 1908.
