Francesc Ferrer Ferret worked with his father who traded with Cuba. He even established his residence there for a while. However, he soon returned to Vilanova where he became an outstanding example of the well-to-do Vilanovan middle classes at the end of the 19th century.
He invested in property such as the apartment located in Ramba Principal, 8 (which was, for many years, occupied by the Post Office) and he held many posts in the town's economic, cultural and political organisations. He also contributed articles to the local newspaper, the Diari de Vilanova, of which he was the editor from 1906 and 1907.

Francesc Ferrer Ferret treballà amb el seu pare en el comerç amb Cuba, fins i tot s'hi establí una temporada, però ben aviat tornà a Vilanova convertint-se en un clar representant de la burgesia benestant vilanovina de finals del segle XIX.
Invertí en béns immobles com la casa de la Rambla Principal, 8 (edifici de Correus durant molts anys) i ocupà diversos càrrecs en entitats econòmiques, culturals i polítiques de la ciutat. També col·laborà amb el Diari de Vilanova escrivint articles i del qual fou director entre 1906 i 1907.
