Biography

Albert Bonsfills, a freelance photographer who divides his work between Barcelona and China, was born in Barcelona in October 1982. After studying at the Photographic Studies Institute of Catalonia (IEFC), his attitude towards photography and documentary was as a tool for showing the reality of unfolding events, and for the struggle for human rights.

His clients include the international press, such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, TIME and Internazionale. His work was selected by the Magnum Foundation’s Emergency Fund, for the 4th Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism in Hannover as well as by the Joop Swart Master Class. This year his work was awarded the WYNG Masters Award of Hong Kong and second prize at Latin-American POY (Picture of the Year) contest. He was also awarded the international On the Move Prize in 2013, and the Renaissance Prize (United Kingdom) in 2011. He was awarded the Photojournalist Click Grant by the Generalitat de Catalunya. His work has been published and exhibited in numerous countries including India, the United States of America, Italy, France, England, Holland and Hong Kong.
