Nuria López Torres

Biography

Núria Lopez Torres was born in Barcelona. She studied at the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia and the Higher School of Image and Design (IDEP) in Barcelona, where she took a Master's degree in photojournalism.

She is a documentary photographer and focuses her work on issues concerning women, identities, violence and sexuality. Her approach is that of a social anthropologist and some of her work is in the form of photographic essays.

She combines her personal projects with work as a freelance photographer for Spanish and international media such as El País, Interviú, Yo Dona, Marie Claire, Le Monde, CNN, Al-Jazeera, and Terra Mater. She curates photographic events and teaches at institutions specialising in photography.

She is a member of GEA PHOTOWORDS, an organisation for photographers, writers and journalists.

She was awarded the photography Prize at the 2nd International Audiovisual Arts Festival of Andalusia and the Argazklik International Photography Prize. She was a finalist for the Kuala Lumpur International Photo Awards Portrait Prize, the LensCulture Portrait Award and for the Hamdan Bin Hohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktourm International Photography Award. Her works are exhibited at the Isonomía Foundation at Jaume I University in Castellón and at the Visible d'Art Contemporani Foundation.
